Praia da Luz

Praia da Luz lies a few kilometers west of Lagos and is perfect for those who want a peaceful, low-key, beach holiday without all the razzmatazz of the big popular resorts. Like the other southwest villages it appeals particularly to families with young children. It retains the charm and character of a traditional Portuguese village yet offers excellent facilities to complement the broad, safe, sandy beach.

Facilities include several restaurants and bars, a supermarket (stocks British produce), bank, doctors, internet cafe.

Lagos

At the heart of Lagos lies the marina and fishing port. The freshly caught fish are brought from the port to the modern fish market. The streets are line with restaurants and cafe, for you to rest in while walking through its ancient streets. From the marina you can go dolphin spotting or take a trip to one of the Algarve's many secluded coves.

Facilities include: Train station, supermarkets, banks, doctors, dentists etc

Burgau

Burgau is west of Praia da Luz and is again a friendly and peaceful village. Its on the edge of a national park and is still a working fishing village. Its sandy beach is ideal for families.

There are several restaurants which all have views overlooking the bay.

Salema

Further west from Burgau lies the small fishing village of Salema. Its reminiscent of a small Cornish fishing village. There is a large sandy beach and several restaurants.

Access to Salema is via the beautiful coast road from Burgau or from the main EN125, down an old river valley.
